Number Density from the Ideal Gas Law
Number density (n) is the number of particles per unit volume. For an ideal gas, it’s found directly from the ideal gas law rearranged as n = P / (kBT), where P is pressure, T is absolute temperature, and kB is Boltzmann’s constant.
At standard atmospheric pressure and room temperature, this gives roughly 2.5×1025 molecules per cubic meter of air — a useful benchmark figure in kinetic theory, plasma physics, and gas-law problems. This calculator assumes ideal-gas behavior, which is a good approximation at ordinary pressures and temperatures but breaks down under extreme conditions.
