What This Calculates
This calculator estimates the steady-state rate of heat conducted through a flat material, such as a wall or insulation layer, using Fourier’s Law.
The Formula
Q = (k × A × ΔT) / L, where k is the material’s thermal conductivity, A is the surface area, ΔT is the temperature difference across the material, and L is its thickness.
For general educational and planning purposes; real-world heat transfer also includes convection and radiation, and multilayer walls require combining resistances.
