Calculating pay for 12-hour shifts

Many shift-based jobs (healthcare, manufacturing, emergency services) use 12-hour shifts. This calculator estimates your weekly pay by applying your hourly wage to regular hours and an overtime multiplier to hours worked beyond 40 in a week.

How it works

The calculator multiplies your shifts per week by 12 to get total hours. The first 40 hours are paid at your regular rate; any hours beyond that are paid at your regular rate times your overtime multiplier (commonly 1.5x, i.e. “time and a half”). It then projects an annual estimate assuming the same schedule for 52 weeks.

Actual overtime rules vary by jurisdiction, employer policy, and employment classification. This tool is for general planning purposes only.
